The clothesline of life

I'm generally something of a sun hater. I'm all, oh! Where's my hat! And no, I do not wish to have an outside table, thank you. I even have a touch of the reverse seasonal affective thingy, getting all anxious-like with all that DAYLIGHT and outdoor activities I'm not doing and such.

But laundry! I do love hanging up some clean laundry in the sun. Wet clothes and sun are a match made in heaven. It somehow makes the world spin at all the same speed, or something. It sloooows me down inside. Seeing it hang there in the breeze. It seems that's how life is supposed to go, all the time. That all is right with the world.

I feel the same way as you about the sun, a little bit of it goes a long way and I don't need to sit in it if I can help it. I prefer the dappled shade. My mood certainly does not improve with many endless days of sunshine.

I agree with you about the laundry outside, even if the sun is not at it's brightest. The fresh wind makes the laundry smell so good and it is a cheery sight, all those colorful items of clothing pinned on the line.

Dryers are wonderful things, but a clothesline when it's not raining is a wonderful invention too.

I gravitate toward the sun...and I have the skin to prove it. I love clotheslines too. This makes me want to do a clothesline series of pics. Love it, Nora.

I love the sun, but, living in San Diego, get plenty of it without even trying. I'm an outdoor table, but in the shade person.

We don't have a line. My husband keeps not getting around to it. So, we have these racks, which are OK I guess because we can hang the clothes at night and then move them out into the sun in the morning. But I really want a line, especially for sheets.

Mind if I show this to my husband. Who would not, did not, will not put up a clothesline for me? "that's what they make dryers for"

Nothing better than line dried clothes.

I LOVE hanging clothes outside. I just love the smell of them after they have been sun infused. To me, that's when I know summer has arrived.

I don't like hanging clothes out, so much, but I LOVE hanging linens outside. Nothing is as beautiful as a vibrant quilt on the clothes line...

Nora, you and I are proof that opposites do attract. Give me a dryer...no, wait, give me a youthful college student to do my laundry by washer and dryer and 90 degrees, humidity and sun any day.

Mmm, nothing smells better than sun-dried laundry!

I don't do well IN the sun, but I sure do love to be in the shade, with sun all around me.

I love the sentiment of this. When we come home from the pool, I like to hang our towels to dry on the deck. Something about it makes me feel relaxed.

Nora, I love this post. Something related is posted on one of the poetry blogs I read. Here's the link. http://tmsyk.blogspot.com/
It is the June 1 post.

Clothes on the line, blowing in the breeze, what could be better?

That is...until the dog decides that flapping clothes are a game and begins dragging everything off the line and running around with it in her mouth.
